General Info - FCI Fort Dix
For visiting days at Fort Dix please see Fort Dix Schedule. Since June 2017 the visiting schedule was changed so we now travel on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Our scheduled visits are from 10am to 3pm on Fridays and 8:30am to 2pm on the weekends. No door to door service is offered during weekday visits on Fridays. It will be station pick up and drop off in Queens, Harlem and Washington Heights. We also pick up in New Jersey for an extra charge. There are three separate facilities at Fort Dix. The East side, the West side and the Camp. While it is very important you know where you are going, because they have visits on different days, it really doesn't matter on the weekends because they all have visits. See the Schedule page of this website for additional information. They are restricted to four points of visits for any given month. A point represents a visiting day, but I do not think a point is taken off on a weekday visit. Pick up time is generally between 4:30am and 5:15am in Brooklyn. In Queens it can be anywhere between 4:30am and 5:30am depending on your location; and in the Bronx and Manhattan it is between 5am and 7am. We normally arrive at Fort Dix between 7:45am and 8:15am, and stay on the visit until 2pm. Please note this is only on the weekends. The visiting process usually starts at 8:30am and is interrupted between 9:30am and 10:00am, because of procedure. The process normally resumes around 11:00am. To visit an inmate at Fort Dix, you have to be on the visitors list if you are 16 years or older. One form of ID is required for anyone on the visitors list. The accepted form of ID has to be government or state issued and cannot be expired. You can contact the institution to verify acceptable forms of ID. You will need change for the vending machines while on the visit. No currency greater than a $5 note is allowed inside the visiting room. Your cash can be carried in a clear transparent container or zip lock bag. Necessary items for a baby can also be taken on the visit as well. See their website for more information. Any other belonging has to be left in a locker, which is provided or your vehicle.
Please be advised that the information provided here concerning Fort Dix is generalized. For complete and precise information you should speak to an employee of the Facility or to an inmate there.
